Giroud - I can win trophies with Arsenal
Olivier Giroud says Arsenal’s potential to win silverware was a major factor in his decision to join the Club.
Giroud follows fellow striker Lukas Podolski into Arsène Wenger’s first-team squad after completing his move to Emirates Stadium on Monday.
The France international won the Ligue 1 title with Montpellier last season - his first major playing honour - and insists Arsenal have what it takes to mount a similar charge of their own next term.
“There is a good generation of players here, a good team,” Giroud told Arsenal Player. “They were not helped by injuries last season and there were a few changes, and for the stability of the group that makes a difference.
“But I think there is a good spirit here and that is another reason why I chose this club. I am confident in the potential of the group and I am convinced that in the future, hopefully next season, we can win something.
“It is difficult in England because there are so many big teams, but that is what gives it its charm, that is what makes it beautiful. It is the hardest league and it won’t be easy to impose myself, but I am confident.”
