‘This is an important moment of the season’

Arsène Wenger believes a lengthy FA Cup run could play an important part in increasing his team’s confidence levels.

Arsenal face Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday on the back of a run of form that has seen them win four and draw one of their last five league games.

Wenger is wary of the threat posed by the Welsh club after they beat the Gunners earlier this season, but is confident his side will rise to the challenge.

“They had a very good game [at Emirates Stadium]. We have to give them a different response on Sunday,” the manager said.

“I think it is an important moment of the season for us, to strengthen the confidence of the team.

“We feel we are on a good run but how far can we go? To win in the FA Cup will strengthen us.

“It bothers me [not to win trophies], of course it bothers me because I’m not here to watch other people win trophies.

“For us it’s important to show continuity and consistency and the FA Cup is part of that. To get people to believe more in the team it’s important that we win on Sunday.”
